The People's Party of Punjab (PPP) will support the nationwide bandh called by NDA and Left parties for May 31, seeking rollback of the recent petrol price hike.

"This unprecedented increase in one go directly affects the common man. It is atrocious that at a time when the common man is already fighting the high inflation is being burdened further with hike in the petrol price," party spokesman and former MLA Bir Devinder said in a statement here.
He said the PPP wholeheartedly expressed solidarity with all those political parties and countrymen who were opposed to the petrol price hike.
"The government of Punjab should also substantially slash the VAT imposed on petro products rather than shedding crocodile tears," said the PPP leader.
During the bandh, all district units would submit memoranda to the respective deputy commissioners, seeking immediate rollback of the hiked petrol price. The PPP workers would wear black badges on carry black flags, said the PPP spokesman.
