The status update from the account, in favour of advocate HS Phoolka, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate for this Lok Sabha seat, started a controversy on Saturday.

The status read: “Je Phoolka ji Punjab to haar jande ne ta Sikhan nu koi hak nahi reh janda ke oho kadey 84 da naam vi lain (If Phoolka loses from Punjab, then Sikhs will have no right to even remember the massacre of 1984).”

Under the status, it was added that the leader had made the statement thinking as a human, forgetting political ambitions. The status got 312 likes within no time. More than 149 people have shared it and 53 have commented on it.

Manpreet Singh Badal is contesting the Bathinda parliamentary seat in alliance with the Congress, so the status has raised many eyebrows. Manpreet denied he even had a Facebook account and said he has declared so in the affidavit to the Election Commission.

Created on September 14, 2009, the Facebook account has 2,870 followers, with the user having updated almost every Manpreet programme since, posting pictures and reports of his rallies.
