In a statement here, she said the SAD-BJP government would work to get the property tax revoked in Punjab once the NDA led by Narendra Modi formed the government at the Centre.

She said the Punjab government had resisted imposing the property tax for six years. “This despite the fact that the then Congress government led by Capt Amarinder Singh had approved imposition of property tax when asked to do so in order to avail the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) funds in 2006,” she said.

The MP said CM Parkash Singh Badal felt for the people and this was why only a nominal property tax had been introduced.

She asked Congress candidate Manpreet Badal to clarify his stand on property tax and tell the people if he backed Amarinder’s decision to approve its imposition. “You cannot run with the hares and hunt with the hounds,” she said while urging Manpreet to deny if Amarinder was not behind the imposition of the tax.
