Though police diverted the traffic coming from Jammu side through Gurdaspur, long columns were seen on the road coming from Jalandhar which made commuters suffer for a long time. The blockade was lifted after SDM Pathankot assured the parents of the deceased that action would be taken against the police officer whom the deceased Kuljit Singh(30) had named in a note. The family later removed the body and took it for the last rites.

The deceased's body was handed over to his parents by Faridkot Police on Thursday, along with some of his belongings, which included a note wherein the deceased had feared threat to his life and had narrated his story.

Deceased's father Guljar Singh and mother Harcharan Kaur claimed that their son had held an inspector of CIA staff Lakhbir Singh, posted at Faridkot, responsible for "all the bad things happening with him". He alleged that Lakhbir Singh had trapped him in a "fake case" under the NDPS Act.

He said that in the note, his brother has reveled that the person with whom he had a clash was CIA inspector Lakhbir Singh. After two days, the inspector called his brother on an isolated place from where he was taken to Gurdaspur and thrashed . Later he was taken to Faridkot where a case under NDPS Act was slapped on him on May 20.

He said that his brother, who was put behind the bars by a local court in Faridkot, had expressed fear in this note that he may die in the jail and CIA Inspector must be held responsible for his death. He remained unwell for two days in the jail and then the news his death came, he added.

"We want the inspector to be booked for the nmurder of my brother," he said.

Meanwhile, SSP Pathankot claimed that as the matter falls under Faridkot police's jurisdiction, so a case must be registered at Faridkot only. "I have assured all help of Pathankot police to them to provide justice to the family," he said.
