The Punjab vigilance bureau arrested a junior engineer (JE) in the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) on Tuesday while allegedly accepting bribe in lieu of not acting against a kundi (illegal) connection complaint.

SSP vigilance bureau Bathinda range Sukhdev Singh Chahal said JE Shyam Lal posted at Bhucho Mandi was arrested with Rs 18, 000. Chahal said Krishan Kumar Bansal, a resident of Bhucho, had alleged that his nephew Manoj Kumar ran a shop and had hired labourers who made a direct connection with an electricity pole due to a dysfunctional generator which was noticed by the JE.
Shyam Lal had allegedly demanded Rs 22, 000 and the deal was fixed at Rs 18, 000.
