The Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has vowed the state industrialists to take maximum benefit of one-time settlement scheme launched by department for defaulters.

The Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has vowed the state industrialists to take maximum benefit of one-time settlement scheme launched by department for defaulters.

KD Chaudhary, chairman cum managing director, PSPCL said, "We give relief to those industries and commercial establishments which are lying shut for past many years on account of disconnection of electricity for non-payment of dues."

The electricity connections were cut and the establishments were forced to shut down. Industrial units have been demanding for revival of their industries through some concessions since then.
One-time settlement scheme is applicable to those units whose electricity connections have been cut off at least for the past two years, on account of non-payment of dues and shall be operative upto March 31, 2014.

Chaudhary informed that this scheme covers all categories of consumers and provides affordable package with concessions for reconnection. PSPCL is also offering facility of payment in installments.

The affected establishments can contact their respective load sanctioning authorities for disposal of their cases under this scheme.

Chaudhri added that, "In this scheme late payment surcharge and interests are not chargeable and monthly minimum charges are also very nominal."However the scheme does not cover cases of theft and unauthorised use of electricity, he clarified.
