Members of Punjab Students Union protested against the undue rise in fee by Universities and other educational institutes at the mini-secretariat in Faridkot.
"Many educational institutes are charging fees from the scheduled caste students under one pretext or the other. SC students are paying Rs 1,560 annually," alleged Rajinder Singh, state general secretary of Punjab students union.

The protesters claimed that universities in the state had increased their fee from 20-50% and have called for 20% yearly increase. They claimed that the education was getting out of reach of the common man.
