Punjab amends two Acts for NRI's

The Punjab government has amended the Punjab Security of Land Tenures Act -2013 and the Pepsu Tenancy and Agricultural Lands Act-2013 to enable non-resident Indians (NRIs) to eject their tenants.

The Punjab government has amended the Punjab Security of Land Tenures Act -2013 and the Pepsu Tenancy and Agricultural Lands Act-2013 to enable non-resident Indians (NRIs) to eject their tenants.

Under secretary revenue (G) Gurmeet Singh, in an official communication to all commissioners, deputy commissioners and SDM's in the state and the director of land records, has said that the government has issued two notifications amending section 9-B and section 7-B of these acts. The amendments say that the concession given under sections 9 and 9-A to the land owner, who is an NRI, shall be available only in respect of his ancestral property and the property which has been purchased by him at least five years before the date he files the ejectment application.
