To increase public participation in improving the government schools, Punjab education minister Daljit Singh Cheema launched ‘Visit and Valuate’ schools programme at the auditorium of Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) on Tuesday.
The project is a joint collaboration between Institute for Development and Communication (IDC), Chandigarh and State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Punjab.
The purpose of the project is a community audit by visiting and evaluating the government schools in the state. All government high and senior secondary schools would be covered in the first phase of the project.
Daljit Singh Cheema in his address said, “The purpose of the programme is not only to evaluate the present state existing in schools but also gain knowledge about the gaps, and to initiate steps for better schools as well as to obtain help from the community and involve the community for the development of our schools.”
Renuka Dagar, director (academics), IDC, talking about the project said, “Visit and evaluation week would be from November 15-November 19, 2016. In this week, 3000 schools would be visited and evaluated.
Based on the best practices of the schools, the best in each category would be rewarded.”
