Displaying a casual approach, the Punjabi university has delayed the admission process, initially to be held on July 23, till July 25.
Owing to the unprofessional attitude of the varsity ’s examination branch, now, the departments have been directed to hold the merit lists till further orders. Despite strict instructions from vice-chancellor (V-C) professor, BS Ghuman, the examination branch failed to declare the undergraduate results.
Following the incident, the V-C had even pulled up the officials and asked them to make extra efforts and declare the results soon. The delay in admission procedures will postpone the start of academic session, which usually commences from August 1.
One of the senior officials in admission cell requesting anonymity said, “Even though the sixth semester results of undergraduate courses were declared on time but the examination branch failed to compile results for reappear and revaluation cases.”
“How can we start the admission process with incomplete results.It is not even possible to release the merit list till the students get their provisional results,” the official said.
The students enrolled in BA honours courses will suffer the most as the university has failed to declare the results of past three semesters (May 2017, December 2018 and May 2018) till date, said the official.
“The results of BA (humanities), BSc (medical, non-medical), computer applications and commerce were also declared in a haphazard manner. The results of over 20% students have been held under RL- AW (result later on for want of awards) category,” an official said.

{{/usCountry}}Not denying the lackadaisical approach of the university officials, vice-chancellor, professor BS Ghuman said, “The officials of examination branch have been directed to clear all the discrepancies at the earliest to complete the admission process within time.”“We are hopeful of completing the admission process at the earliest. The merit list of all the courses will be declared on July 25,” the V-C said.
Rescheduled
Earlier also, the counselling for postgraduate courses was rescheduled due to delay in result declaration.
The entrance and interview schedule of different departments — including master of arts (MA), master of science (MSc), commerce applications, master of pharmacy and master of business administration (MBA) — were rescheduled to July 20-21 from July 16-17.
The interviews for MBA (internation business), MBA (dual degree), MBA (hospital and health care management) and MBA (environment and solid waste management) have been rescheduled to July 27.
Examination branch without controller
Even though the post of controller of examination is vacant since past 18 months, but the university has not taken any concrete steps regarding the matter.
Dean academic affairs Dr GS Batra has been given the additional charge of the controller of examination.
