Chairing the first meeting of the district planning board, its newly-elected chairman Deepinder Dhillon on Monday announced to spend Rs 14 crore on developing the roads in the outer areas of the city, where sewerage laying work had been completed.
Dhillon said the money for the purpose would be released immediately and the repair work would be completed by June end. He also instructed the officials of the civic body and the district planning board to personally monitor the metalling of roads and submit him monthly report.
Apart from this, Dhillon also gave nod to other civic works worth Rs 43.81 lakh for different villagers falling under the Patiala district.
The new district planning board chief asserted that his immediate priority was to ensure pure and clean water supply to all 919 villages falling under the district. “Though the government was attention to sort-out this basic problem, still there are certain areas where the water was of poor quality,” he said.
The district planning board has prepared a Rs 14-crore proposal to supply potable water in 59 villages of the district, he said.
