R31 lakh unaccounted money, 1 kg gold seized

Unaccounted cash totalling Rs 31.75 lakh and 1 kg gold was recovered from two residents of Amritsar from the Ludhiana railway station on Tuesday.

Unaccounted cash totalling Rs 31.75 lakh and 1 kg gold was recovered from two residents of Amritsar from the Ludhiana railway station on Tuesday.

Sub-inspector Balbir Singh of Government Railway Police, said during regular inspection, they checked the bags of Jagtar Singh (35) and his nephew, Amandeep Singh (21), and found the cash and gold jewellery from their possession.

The duo had reached Ludhiana from Samastipur in Bihar on Gareebrath Express. They failed to show any documents of the seized cash and jewellery.SHO Gurnam Singh said the case had been handed over to income tax and sales tax departments. He said no case was registered.
