Infuriated over the alleged dismal purchase of paddy, farmers jammed rail traffic for more than an hour on Sunday at a village near here.

Members of the Lakhowal and Krantikari factions of the Bharti Kisan Union sat on rail tracks at the Jhoke Tehalsingh Wala station on the Ferozepur-Fazilka section, interrupting railway traffic on the route. The paddy-procurement process was almost complete, but most of the stock at the grain market of Chak Tahliwala village was still to be purchased, the BKU stated in a press release.

The railway police and cops from Ferozepur were able after much effort to persuade the farmers to lift the blockade for the train service to resume.
