Situated in the heart of the town, it is known as the Railway Park because its land was owned by the Railways when it was acquired, about a decade ago. The then state government had got the no-objection certificate from the Railways and developed it as a public park.

However, since its inception ten years ago, the park has not been equipped with all the facilities that a park should have. The basic amenities like swings, sheds, drinking water or even toilets have not been provided. Even regular trimming of the grass is not carried out and even stray animals are sometimes seen roaming in the park.

The area adjacent to the boundary wall, where a taxi stand is situated, has been turned into a garbage dump and spreads foul smell all around.

"Hundreds of people, including old, young and children, visit the park daily but, if developed further and provided all the necessary facilities, more and more people would like to come here to relax and enjoy their spare time," said Bobby Narula, another resident.

Jaspal Singh Gill, SDM-cum-administrator, Municipal Committee, ,Guru Har Sahai, said that under the Swachh Bharat campaign, the entire area has been cleaned up and the cleanliness in the park would be taken care of regularly in future too. A plan to further develop the park would be prepared soon and it would be implemented when the funds will be made available, said Gill.
