The district suffered 20 to 25% crop damage, figures that have come out in the Punjab agriculture department survey. “Wheat and vegetables are the major crops affected,” a senior official of the department said here on Wednesday."In Amritsar, the impact is on wheat, fodder, and vegetables, including tomato, over 10,000 hectares across several blocks," said chief agriculture officer (Amritsar) Dilbag Singh. A special girdawari (revenue survey) of villages, including Vallah, Kotli Mian Khan, Kotli Nasir Khan and Chhapa Ram Singh, is recommended to assess the loss to farmers.
