Rain may play spoilsport

Rain may play the spoilsport in the panchayat elections on Wednesday, for which the district administration is busy in preparations.According to the met officials, rain was expected in the Malwa region on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the election teams failed to reach their respective places in Muktsar district as the region witnessed rain on Tuesday.

Rain may play the spoilsport in the panchayat elections on Wednesday, for which the district administration is busy in preparations.According to the met officials, rain was expected in the Malwa region on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the election teams failed to reach their respective places in Muktsar district as the region witnessed rain on Tuesday.

The teams in Bathinda and Mansa districts have reached their destinations to perform election duty.In Mansa, 3.87 lakh voters will cast their votes to elect 602 sarpanches and 2,108 panches. Of the 517 polling booths, 67 have been declared most sensitive and 138 as sensitive. As many as 3,110 employees will perform the election duty in all five blocks of the district.

There are 108 polling booths in Mansa block, 165 in Budhlada, 83 in Sardulgarh, 72 in Bhikhi and 89 polling booths in Jhunir block.

In Mansa district, 23 sarpanches and 832 panches have been elected unanimously.In Bathinda district, there are 296 gram panchayats of which 21 have been elected unopposed while Kanakwal village in Bathinda is boycotting the elections.
