It was a pleasant, rainy Saturday in Chandigarh and its adjoining towns of Panchkula and Mohali as overnight showers brought the temperature down to 22.8 degrees Celsius.

Chandigarh got 69.2 mm of rainfall in the past two days and the weather department official said, “ The clouds will make way for the sun only on Sunday.”
“The city got moderate to heavy rain during these two days and will continue to get rain till Saturday night. The sky will clear up on Sunday,” says Surender Paul, the director of the Indian Meteorological Department(IMD), here.
He said that the day and night temperatures will see a dip of two degrees in the coming week. On Saturday, the temperature at 11.30am was 22.8 degrees Celsius, while on Friday, the day temperature was 30 degrees, 3 degrees below normal. This monsoon, Chandigarh got 711 mm rainfall, 98 mm less than the normal of 809 mm.
“The city received 12% less than normal rainfall. But we will call it near normal,” Paul said. This year, the region got better rain than the last year, which saw a 30% deficit, he added.
