The store has been set up in collaboration with the Patiala Health Foundation based in the United States. Rakhra said this new free drug store has come as a boon to accident victims who were brought to the hospital in a critical condition and needed medicines immediately. Medicines worth Rs 70,000 would be made available by the foundation every month at this drug store.

Rakhra also inaugurated a C-arm machine in the operation theatre of the trauma centre of the hospital. This machine has been installed in collaboration with the Patiala Gomco Alumni Association and would help doctors view the surgical procedures on a computer screen. This facility has been installed in a government hospital for the first time, Rakhra said.

Functionaries of the Patiala Health Foundation, senior doctors, besides medical superintendent Dr VK Sharda and deputy medical superintendent Dr Harshindar Kaur, were present on the occasion.
