A day after a one-year-old boy went missing and was recovered by Thursday night, the police reportedly rounded up the cousin brother of the toddler's mother and her aunt from Moga on Friday.
They have been identified as Happy and Nimmo. It is suspected that the duo abducted Sehajpal with an intention to sell him.
Though police officials have been reluctant to reveal anything in the matter, sources confirmed the development.
Some unidentified accused had abducted Sehajpal, son of Raju of Salem Tabri area, on Thursday morning.
The Salem Tabri police had registered a case of abduction against unidentified accused and initiated investigation. Later, the child was found abandoned in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Colony near Jalandhar Bypass.
According to sources, police got to know that the kidnappers called the family on Thursday night informing them that they had abandoned the child near the school. On checking, the police found the call was made from a dhaba near Ludhiana railway station.
When contacted, inspector Balwinder Singh, station house officer (SHO) at Salem Tabri police station, said the matter was under investigation, and nothing could be said at this stage.
