Candidates whose posters appear across the city, however, are little interested in removing them despite getting directions from the district administration.

Thousands of posters still can be seen on the private or government properties. Commenced on May 10, the drive is scheduled to continue till May 15.

Jasdeep Singh of Urban Estate said, “I myself removed the posters from my house as no volunteer came here to do the job. The walls of my house were defaced as posters were pasted without my permission. The administration should also direct the candidates concerned to remove the posters and paint the walls.”

“Had the district administration been strict nobody could have dared to deface the walls. Candidates should get the posters removed,” said Ramesh Srivastav, chief of Samaj Sewa Society, a city-based organisation.

A domestic help, who was removing posters from a house on Pakhowal road said, “We are removing the posters ouselves. It is very difficult to remove these posters.”
