Residents oppose installation of electricity poles along Ganda Nullah

The residents claimed that the poles will come in the middle of the roads after covering the nullah. They alleged that the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) officials were ignoring the road safety norms by ordering to install new poles along the Ganda Nullah.

They claimed that the MC authorities have already appealed to the PSPCL to install electricity poles on proper places, so that the commuters would not have to suffer.

Councillor Sanjay Talwar said, “Earlier, the MC had paid to the PSPCL to shift old poles to a safe place, as they had to carry out the project to cover the nullah. Now, the PSPCL has ordered a firm to install new poles along the Ganda Nullah. But, these poles will cause inconvenience to the commuters and will also invite mishaps after covering of the nullah.”

An official of firm, which was installing electricity poles, claimed that they had no information if MC had paid PSPCL to shift the old poles. He said they were installing the poles as per plan by the PSPCL.

PSPCL Ludhiana chief engineer Rashpal Singh could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
