The wait of Ghulam Nabi Shah for someone to take him home finally ended when his family members and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officials entered the local Red Cross premises to script a happy reunion.
Shah, who was released along with five other Indian nationals by Pakistan on February 16, was waiting since then to go home but unfortunately nobody had come to claim him. Hindustan Times had taken up the issue of these Indian nationals released by Pakistan.
As soon as Mohammad Anwar Shah of Baramulla entered the premises where Ghulam Nabi was kept, he identified his brother. Same was the case with one constable of the CISF RU Khan, who was a batch mate of Ghulam Nabi.
Happy after meeting his brother, Mohammad Anwar Shah said, “Ghulam went missing about five years back. We never knew that he was in Pakistan. We just felt that since Ghulam was mentally disturbed he might have gone missing. It was just after we got a call from the CISF office in Ghaziabad that we came to knew that Ghulam was in Amritsar and was released from a Pakistani jail.
His coming back is a big thing for family. Ghulam Nabi has five daughters and his whole life is disturbed. We just want that the CISF must give him his benefits and pension so that he can have a better life and treatment in coming time.”

{{/usCountry}}Constable RU Khan, who had spent 12 years in career with Ghulam Nabi said, “It was shocking to know that he had landed in a Pakistan jail. He was undergoing treatment at Delhi initially and then he was shifted to Delhi. From there he went missing about five years back.
The family told that now Ghulam Nabi will be taken back to Baramulla and will be given medical treatment.
One Mohammad Sayeed, nephew of Ghulam Nabi was extremely happy to see his uncle and spoke of the worry in the family after Nabi went missing.
