In yet another incident of ATM robbery, miscreants ran away with `26 lakh after breaking open an automated teller machine of State Bank of India (SBI) in Rajasansi on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.
As per police, the incident took place at around 2:30am on Sunday and the robbers injured security guard Harpal Singh before leaving.
Confirming the incident, Rajasansi deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Jagatpreet Singh said, "As per Harpal, he was on duty when 3-4 miscreants barged into the ATM cabin and committed the robbery after injuring him."They used gas cutters to break open the machine, said police.
The preliminary investigation suggested that `26.53 lakh was robbed from the ATM, said the DSP.
The DSP said, "We are working on various angles; besides CCTV camera recording of the ATM has also been procured from the bank and is being monitored closely. We are hopeful of an important lead that will guide us in cracking the case."
The security guard said, "I was on duty like any other day when some miscreants came in and banged some object on my head, which started bleeding and I lost my consciousness."
In the meantime, a case against unidentified miscreants has been registered at the Rajasansi police station.

Police on Sunday morning started probing the crime scene and a team of forensic experts also examined the area.
