The victims have alleged that the robbers entered their house in Basti Jodhewal's Jain Colony from the roof when they were asleep at night, and took their daughter hostage and forced them to give the gold.

However, the police are suspecting the claims and are yet to register a case. Rajiv Sharma, the complainant who also has an embroidery workshop on the ground floor of his house, alleged that his wife was sleeping with his baby daughter on the second floor of his house, while he was sleeping on the first floor with his mother, as his father was not home, when the incident took place at around 2.5am.

His wife, Seema Sharma, claimed that two men with their faces covered entered her room and got hold of their daughter, and then asked her to give the gold or they would shoot the girl.

"I immediately informed the police and called neighbours for help," Rajiv said.

Seema has told the police that the robbers were also wearing gloves and speaking in Punjabi. Inspector Sukhdev Singh, station house officer (SHO) of Basti Jodhewal police station, said the entry door of the house was locked.

"The family suspects that the robbers might have entered the hosue from the roof. We investigated the matter, but did not make any headway," he said. "We will investigate the matter thoroughly before lodging a complaint," he added.
