Four members of a family of village Aladadpur were seriously injured as the roof of their house collapsed in the wee hours of this morning. The residents claimed that it was learnt that roof got weakened because of continuous rain held in region.
The injured have been identified as Paramjit Singh, Inderjeet Kaur, Pinnu Kaur and Gagandeep Kaur, who have been referred to the Rajendra Hospital Patiala after providing first aid at the civil hospital here.
According to information seriously injured Gagandeep Kaur has further been referred to PGI Chandigarh where her condition is stated to be serious.
The village Sarpanch Narinder Pal Singh and Dr Jaswant Singh said the incident occurred at about 4 am when the roof of the house collapsed. They said after hearing their shrieks for help the neighbors immediately arrived at the site and rescued the victims from the debris and took them to civil hospital Amloh.
They further said that the roof of the house was leaking for the past few days due to the incessant rains witnessed in the region. They said as the family was very poor they did not have any resource to repair the roof of the house.
After receiving information SGPC member Ravinder Singh Khalsa and senior officers of the district administration also reached the spot to take stock of the situation.
