Giving the look of a corporate office, the kendras employ only computer literate, well-educated and polite youth with professional communication skills in Punjabi and English. All kendras have a uniformly designed building with standardised furniture, furnishings and layout.

Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Opinderjit Singh Ghuman said the services provided at the kendras so far included registration of arrival and departure of 212 foreigners, extension of registration of NRIs, attested copies of 19,286 FIRs and DDRs. Besides this, 752 reports of lost passports, 10,036 police verifications for issue of passports, 176 verifications for issuing new arms licences and 160 verifications for setting up of petrol pumps etc.

Some of the complaints lodged in the kendras such as relating to domestic violence or dowry etc were referred to the police-public committee for opinion and comments.
