SAD councillor, two others killed in Himachal mishap

A Shiromani Akali Dal councillor, Prabhjit Singh Dicxy, and two city residents died after his car fell into a gorge when they were returning from Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh, on Saturday night.

Dicxy and others were cremated at Patiala on Sunday evening after the Himachal Pradesh Police handed over the bodies after conducting post mortem.

Dicxy, a councillor from ward no. 46, was a close relative of former minister Surjit Singh Kohli. The other deceased have been identified as Amarjit Singh Patwari, a resident of Anand Nagar, and Sher Singh, a resident of Arya Samaj area. One Baljit Singh was seriously injured and undergoing treatment at the Post Graduate Institute for Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh.

As per information, the four friends had gone to Kasauli for a brief trip. After spending the entire day in the hill station, they decided to return in the evening. Dicxy opted for a short cut and lost control over his car. The vehicle fell on the roof of a hotel and later slipped into 600-ft gorge, resulting in the death of three on the spot and leaving one injured.

A large number of prominent politicians and social activists, including MP Prem Singh Chandumajra, Kirpal Singh Badungar, former minister Surjit Singh Kohli, mayor Amarinder Bajaj, SAD district president Indermohan Singh Bajaj and former mayor Ajitpal Singh Kohli, visited the aggrieved family and the cremation ground to offer their condolences.
