BJP state president Kamal Sharma said on Wednesday that the party was working in complete corodination with the senior partner in the government, SAD, to ensure a victory for the alliance in the upcoming zila parishad and panhayat samiti polls.
"This is the second time, the BJP is contesting on its own symbol. Last time, wokrers of the SAD and the BJP had clashes in several parts of the state. We are together this time," Sharma told HT.
Sharma said that the chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and his deputy Sukhbir Badal have admitted to the party's influence in the rural area too, which led to the amicable seat sharing in the ensuing ZP & BS polls.
BJP is contesting on 330 bloack samiti seats and 35 ZP seats. Its candidates have been elected unopposed on one ZP and 14 BS seats, Sharma said.
Development in the state and corruption by the UPA was the main poll plank of SAD-BJP in the ensuing poll, he said. The centre's allaged attempt to impose wealth tax would also be raised, he said.
On the outburst of party MLA Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu against the BJP leadership, he said the issue had been dealt with and Sigiu would meet national president Rajnath Singh very soon.

{{/usCountry}}On his comments on the controversy over inscribing the name of Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale on the entrance to the Blue Star Memorial, Sharma evaded a direct reply and said that SGPC had constituted a committee to sort out the issue.
Accepting the party's defeat in Kartanaka, Sharma said that infighting among the state leadership was responsible for the party's defeat.
"Unlike Congress, which goes to any extent to save its corrupt leaders, BJP sacrificed its party, but did not comprise on the issue of corruption and chucked out former chief minister Y S Yeddyurappa."
