Sarpanch sexual harassment case: Accused allege implication

Say one of the accused Harpreet Singh was mentally challenged and had been tied in the house for the past two years.

Kabal Singh, an accused in a case of alleged sexual harassment of the woman sarpanch of Jodhpur Romana village along with others, on Friday, told mediapersons that the sarpanch had falsely implicated them and demanded an inquiry by the police.

He said the accused included Harpreet Singh, who was mentally challenged and has been tied in the house for the past over two years.

Harpreet Singh fastened in chains at his home in Jodhpur Romana village.

On the complaint by sarpanch of the village Babita Rani, the police have booked Kabal Singh, Jugna Singh, Bagicha Singh, Kaka Singh, Bittu Singh and Harpreet Singh under sections 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence commited) of the IPC. She had alleged that the accused entered her house on April 13 and sexually assaulted her and threatened her.
