With this, more than 12,000 school lecturers who had gone on two-day leave since Tuesday and had been boycotting the checking of answer sheets Class 12 since November 7, would start evaluation of papers from Friday.

The HSLA president, Dayanand Dalal, told HT that the principal secretary assured a HSLA delegation that all their demands were being looked into. The delegation was assured that new posts of vice principals would be created in schools to accommodate adequate number of lecturers, Dalal said.

He said that the delegation was also assured that the government had decided to form a committee to reconsider the 67:33 ratio on which lecturers and head masters, respectively, were promoted to the post of principals as it anguished the former whose number was more than 12,000 and there were only about 300 head masters.
