School watchman murdered, another injured

Unidentified armed assailants barged into St Jude's Convent School on the Jalandhar road here last night and attacked two watchmen and murdered one of them.

Unidentified armed assailants barged into St Jude's Convent School on the Jalandhar road here last night and attacked two watchmen and murdered one of them.

City SHO Subash Bath said that the deceased watchman has been identified as Ram Lubhaya (54), a resident of Boparai village near here. His body was found in a toilet with arms and legs tied.

Bath said that the deceased was hit on the head and the face, which was badly disfigured. The body of the deceased was dragged from one side of the building to the other to throw it in a toilet.

The deceased had completed his duty hours at 12 pm and was resting in the school.
The SHO said that the injured watchman has been identified as Sompal, also of Boparai village. His arms and legs were tied and he was also locked in a toilet.

However, he was able to free himself and reached a nearby dabha and informed his security agency, North Star based in Jalandhar.

He was rushed to the civil hospital from where he was shifted to a private clinic being managed by a society that runs the school.

Jalandhar (rural ) SSP JS Sidhu visited the spot of the crime on Wednesday morning and held a meeting with police officials.

A dog squad was pressed into service to find any clue of the accused.

A society spokesman said that this is the third attack on schools run by it within a month. Ealier, schools at Bhogpur and Bolath were attacked in such a way.
