Section 144 imposed in Sangrur hotels

Additional district magistrate MK Arvind Kumar on Thursday issued orders under section 144 of the CrPC prohibiting hotels, restaurants and dharamsalas in the district from allowing persons to stay without identification proof.

Additional district magistrate MK Arvind Kumar on Thursday issued orders under section 144 of the CrPC prohibiting hotels, restaurants and dharamsalas in the district from allowing persons to stay without identification proof.

"The owners should maintain a register of the people staying there and keep a record of their name, residence address, phone number and photocopy of proof of residence," Kumar said.

If activities of the people staying at these places sparks doubts, the owners must immediately inform the local administration and police station. These orders will be effective till June 30, 2015.
