Security sought for kin of 2 men slain in fake encounter

Raj Kumar Verka, vicechairman, National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC), on Wednesday directed the Ludhiana police to provide adequate security to the family of two brothers killed in an alleged fake encounter in Jamalpur on September 27.

Raj Kumar Verka, vicechairman, National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC), on Wednesday directed the Ludhiana police to provide adequate security to the family of two brothers killed in an alleged fake encounter in Jamalpur on September 27.

The family members of the deceased had complained to the NCSC that their sons were killed by police in a fake encounter.

Verka,who was on a visit to Ludhiana, asked the deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Lakhbir Singh that the adequate security should be provided to the family members who reside at Machhiwara. Deceased’s father Satpal Singh also urged police to speed up the investigation process.
