The vigilance department has initiated investigations into the alleged involvement of certain officials of food and supply department in connection with seizure of 853 litres kerosene oil from fair price shop in Charanjeet Pura on Friday.
The department's officials, who conducted raid at shop, revealed that without connivance of certain officials of food and supply department, fair price shop owner could not be able to store such huge quantity of kerosene oil.
On the other hand, the food and supply department has suspended the licence of the fair price shop, which was owned by Gopi Chand Gulati.
On Friday, a joint team of vigilance and food and supply department raided the fair price shop at Charanjeet Pura locality and seized 856 litres of kerosene oil, which was allegedly being kept for black marketing.
Dalbir Singh, a member of the raiding team, said that the report had been sent to higher officials and action would be taken accordingly
The vigilance department had received a complaint on its helpline number 1800-1800-1000 about the illegal stock of kerosene oil at the said fair price shop.
The investigations revealed that the shop owner was receiving a supply of around 70 lires of kerosene oil as its monthly quota from food and supply department. The shop owner was allegedly selling the kerosence oil in the open market at a rate of `50 per litre.
Further, vigilance officials said that if the owner of fair price shop had not distributed among the BPL card holders, he should have shown the same on records and he was supposed to report back to parent department about the balance quota, which Gulati failed to do.

{{/usCountry}}The officials further said that BPL card holders get 5 litre quota of kerosene oil each every month from the fair price shop under the public distribution system.
Speaking with Hindustan Times, SP (vigilance) Som Nath said, “The report has been sent to higher officials and FIR would be registered accordingly”.
He said that they would summon some officials of food and supply department for further investigation.
While, district food and supply controller, Rakesh Singla confirmed that licence of the shop has been suspended and added that the case was with the vigilance department.
When asked alleged involvement of certain officials of his department, he said that if it was established during investigations, stern action would be taken against the guilty.
