The HC bench of justice Jitendra Chauhan disposed of the matter as “dismissed as withdrawn”, following which the woman’s counsel told the HC bench during a resumed hearing on Tuesday that the high HC had ordered the lower court to defer the hearing beyond the date fixed by the HC. “It is prolonging the proceedings there. So, the petitioner should be allowed to withdraw the petition,” the petitioner stated.

The petitioner woman had approached the HC in August, seeking transfer of the case from the present judge. In the course of proceedings in the case, the HC had summoned Roy and his driver Takdeer Singh and had also held “in-camera” proceedings. As of the lower court, the case is being heard at a Chandigarh court.
