SGPC launches relief fund for poor cancer patients

Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee today announced the launch of a new relief fund for providing financial help to families of poor cancer patients.

In a statement issued here, SGPC President Avtar Singh Makkar informed that the committee has initially provided Rs 50 lakh to families of cancer victims.

"Treatment of this disease is a huge burden for the poor families as it is a costly affair. Many cancer patients are dying as their families are unable to afford the expenses," he said.

Makkar appealed to the Sikh community to come forward and generously donate money for the cause.
