Shiv Sena also blocked the national highway and tried to highlight the alleged injustice done to the pilgrims “who had gone to visit the Amarnath shrine”. The protesters also burnt Omar Abdullah's effigy.

Shiv Sena district president Anil Singla said, “It is a sheer failure of the Jammu and Kashmir government, who were not able to protect the pilgrims. However, the fanatics and religious zealots, who attacked the innocent pilgrims should be dealt with severely and given harsh punishment.”

He said separatist leaders in valley were hell bent to destabilize the “ancient pilgrimage of Hindus, on orders of their masters sitting in Pakistan” said Singla.

He also said that those involved in the attack should not be spared by the state government.
