Confirming this, his son Ravinderjit Singh said they would take him to their house at Hassanpur village near Mullanpur Dakha. He said the protest by his father would continue till the release of Sikh prisoners from jails.

Following the development, members of the sangharsh committee and Panthic organisations called off the protest scheduled outside the hospital for August 6.

Officials at the DMCH had written to the deputy commissioner recommending shifting of Khalsa to the civil hospital or some other institute. The hospital authorities had claimed that Khalsa's health was stable.

Khalsa's lawyer Gurjinder Singh Sahni had sent a notice to the deputy commissioner, alleging Khalsa's "illegal" detention.
