Three days after Avantika Tanwar, wife of Sirsa MP and president of Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee Ashok Tanwar, voilated the model code of conduct by promising gun licences to voters at Suratia village under the Rori police station of Sirsa district, she has been booked under 171B (bribery) of the Indian Penal Code.
Sirsa returning officer-cum-deputy commissioner Anshaj Singh had taken cognizance of a media report in which she was reported to have said that she would fulfil the demand of Congress workers of Sirsa district who seek gun licences after the elections.
On March 25, Ashok Tanwar was served notice by the district returning officer and was asked to explain within 24 hours.

{{/usCountry}}In the video in possession of HT, Avantika while campaigning for her husband, said that she was a Congress worker and people here could approach her anytime after polls for getting licence which needed verification and approval of superintendent of police and deputy commissioner.
Addressing a public meeting she said that she had heard that people had many complaints with regard to procuring gun licences, while assuring them that now their work would be done. She could be heard saying that the previous deputy commissioner was not co-operative, but the incumbent DC had assured them of clearing the backlog of the licences.
"Naya wala DC acche hain, par thoda ghabratay hain, par us say baat ho chuki hai ki election kay baad saaray gun licence nikal dega (The new DC is good, but a bit timid. But we have take words from him that he would clear the licence files after the polls)".
She also said that though applications for gun licences in Sirsa district surpasses the number of entire Haryana, but the licences of Congress workers should be made.
