Demanding the arrest of Lehragaga- based suspended PWD (bridges and road) SDO, family members of his servant, whose body was recovered from Lehal village near Moonak on Friday, blocked the Moonak-Patran road for several hours.
However, after the assurance from the Sangrur SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu, the family members ended the protest and cremated the body.
On Thursday, the suspended officer Sarbjeet Singh had filed an FIR in Lehra police station alleging involvement of his servant Jaswinder Singh in murder of his wife, Gurpreet Kaur, whose body was recovered from her house under mysterious circumstances.
The family members of Jaswinder blocked the traffic on this busy road, demanding the immediate arrest of the Sarjbjeet Singh.
Talking to Hindustan Times, SSP Sidhu said that as the issue was very serious, a special investigation team has been formed to probe the double murder.
He said that the SP (D) Moonak will lead the SIT, whereas the DSP, Lehra, and Moonak and Lehra SHOs have been made the members of the SIT.
