The police booked six members of an NRI family for allegedly harassing a woman for dowry on Sunday.
Manbir Kaur complained to police that she got married in 2008 and since then her husband Harsimran Singh and five of her in-laws have been harassing her for dowry.
The police said, “The accused are settled in Brisbane, Australia and hail from Guru Nanak Nagar area in the district.”
“Kaur alleged that after wedding, her family gave dowry and also paid Rs 10 lakh for her in-laws’ tickets to Australia,” police added.
After three months of her marriage, Kaur also left for the country where she was repeatedly troubled by the accused, demanding more money.

Sections of Anti-Dowry Act and for criminal breach of trust.
