Additional deputy commissioner Joram Beda reached the spot and ordered an inquiry into the matter.

According to information, Gurpreet Singh (23), who was bitten by a snake, was admitted to a hospital. Chupkeetee village sarpanch Hadayat Mohammad said Gurpreet Singh was asleep in his room when the incident took place. "We admitted him to Dr Mathura Dass Civil Hospital, Moga, but doctors in the emergency ward referred him to Guru Gobind Singh Medical Collage and Hospital, Faridkot. Owing to lack of money, Gurpreet's parents admitted him to a local private nursing home, where he died," he said.

Dr Rajesh Puri, senior medical officer, said doctors of the hospital treated Gurpreet Singh carefully and administered first-aid immediately. "But as we have no medical specialist, Gurpreet was referred him to Faridkot," he added.
