PCMS Specialist Doctors’ Association (PCMS-SDA) district general secretary Dr Rajesh Lakhanpal said here on Monday that the government had passed an order in 1989 to provide extra 50% of the basic pay to the specialist doctors, but the order was not implemented.

Dr Lakhanapal said the specialist doctors were also getting pay equal to that of the general doctors, who were just MBBS and had not done MD in any stream.

The specialist doctors on Monday attended the patients in the open in front of the office of the senior medical officer (SMO). They only examined the patients and denied them special healthcare. None of the specialist doctors rendered services of surgery or operation on Monday.

Dr Lakhanpal said as per the directions of their state-level association, the specialist doctors would not offer specialist services to the patients till May 15.
