Speeding car mows down minor

In yet another road accident, a speeding Innova claimed life of an 11-year-old girl here on Saturday. According to information, deceased identified as Andry Singh, who was a Class-7 student at GMT School, Jalandhar Bypass, was crossing road with her elder sister Deeksha after attending school when she was hit by the car.

In yet another road accident, a speeding Innova claimed life of an 11-year-old girl here on Saturday.

According to information, deceased identified as Andry Singh, who was a Class-7 student at GMT School, Jalandhar Bypass, was crossing road with her elder sister Deeksha after attending school when she was hit by the car.

The driver of Innova fled from the spot after the incident but the police managed to get the registration number of the vehicle.

Andry received severe injuries while her sister escaped unhurt. Andry was admitted to a private hospital in Salem Tabri from where doctors referred her to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where she succumbed to her injuries.

The doctors at DMCH said when the deceased was brought to the hospital, her pulse rate and blood pressure dipped. The victim was in coma and died at 4 pm while undergoing treatment.

Inspector Maninder Bedi, station house officer (SHO) at the Salem Tabri police station, said the police identified the vehicle bearing the registration number of Delhi and launched a hunt to nab the accused.

Bedi said a case had been registered against the accused for reckless driving and causing death due to negligence under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
