Alleging that there had been a spurt in the cases of crime, especially against women, she said a seven-year-old son of a cloth merchant was kidnapped in Rohtak in broad daylight by two motorcycle-borne youths on Thursday. A 23-year-old nursing student from Bhiwani was gangraped in Rohtak recently, while the case of 16-year-old Rajeev showed that a gang of human traffickers was active and operating in Sirsa and other parts of Haryana, she added.

Choudhry also cited a report, saying that more than 2,715 cases of crime against women had been registered across the state since October 2014 when the Khattar government took over.

She added that the cases of sexual harassment had increased from 372 in 2013-14 to 400 in 2014-15 and the number of rape cases had also increased to 967 in 2014-15 from 950 in 2013-14.
