To prepare students for armed forces, National Cadet Corps (NCC) should be started in Senior Secondary Residential School for Meritorious Students and a period must be dedicated for training in the time table. This was stated by chief minister Parkash Singh Badal during his visit to the school on Sunday.
He was in the city to attend a function organised by Nishkam Sewa Vidya Mandir.
Badal visited the hostels for boys and girls at the residential school and interacted with students. He asked the students to work hard as these two years were very crucial for them.
During his interaction with students, more girls showed interest to join the armed forces after Class 12. Badal told the girls that he would make arrangements for students so that they could get admission in the institutes for armed forces after Class 12.
On being asked if the coaching class have started for students, officiating principal Anoop Kumar Passi told Badal that the school teachers have started taking the classes, but the students need proper guidance from coaching institutes and the project director for meritorious school was finalising the institutes.
Badal also directed the school principal to send a proposal to the project director for meritorious school to hire a music teacher. Though classes at the school classes from August 4, even after a month the authorities have failed to provide a permanent principal, warden and other supporting staff in the school.

{{/usCountry}}Two weeks ago when Badal had visited the school he had claimed that non-teaching staff would be provided soon, but to no avail.
Besides this, Badal also enquired about the school playground. To this Passi said the plan for the playground was ready, but the forest department was yet to cut the trees.
Badal directed the school principal to get the trees axed as soon as possible so that students could play in the playground.
