A student, who was allegedly travelling without ticket, jumped from a moving bus when ticket checkers boarded it and was crushed to death by a mini truck coming from behind on Matana road in Fatehabad district on Tuesday evening, police said on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Sumit Kumar of Fatehabad, a student of Industrial Training Institute (ITI).
The police sent his body to Fatehabad civil hospital and started investigations into the matter. A case has been registered against the unknown mini truck driver.
Station House Officer (SHO) Dinesh Kumar said, “According to co-travellers, Sumit was travelling from Hisar to Fatehabad without ticket. When he saw a team of ticket checkers in the bus, he jumped from the moving vehicle. As he was trying to cross the road, he was crushed to death by a mini truck coming from behind. The truck driver fled the spot. A case has been registered against him on the complaint made by the victim’s cousin Mandeep.”
