About 90 students from the Amritsar College of Engineering and Technology (ACET), Khalsa College and BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar participated in the rally. They took out a demonstration from Green Avenue to the MP's residence.

While passing through Mall Road and other places, the students expressed their anger against the delay in action in the Delhi gangrape case through slogans and placards with hard-hitting messages.

Shagun Sharma, an ACET student, said that the protest walk was organised to demand strict action against all those involved in the Delhi gangrape and press for a discussion on the issue in Parliament.

Chief parliamentary secretary Navjot Kaur Sidhu, wife of the Amritsar MP, met the protesters and listened to their demands.

The CPS said she was saddened by the Delhi incident and was praying for the quick recovery of the 23-year-old victim. Dr Sidhu said she would herself inspect places in the city which were more prone to eve-teasing and recommend strict action against those found harassing women.
