Students of a local school have been told to pay late fee even as it were the school authorities who had mentioned incorrect last date for submitting admission on the notice board.
As per the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB), the deadline for the registration to open school for Classes 10 and 12 was July 22 without late fee, which is mentioned on the website. It was also mentioned in the website that if the school fails to make online submissions of forms by the last date, the latter would have to submit a fine of Rs 500 each student as fine.
However, authorities at Lyallpur Khalsa Collegiate Senior Secondary School had mentioned on its notice board July 29 as the last date for submitting forms.
A parent said, "The school is charging late fee fine of Rs 500 from us. But they had made a mistake by mentioning wrong date on the notice board."
School principal Gurbans Singh Bolina, however, said the forms were submitted late as the server was down since July 19. "We even informed the board authorities for the same and they agreed to the fact. The software was updated with late fee automatically due to which we had to take extra Rs 500 from students. We have told parents that the money would be reimbursed the moment we got it back from the board."
