Just like Sahil, Lalit Kumar, 24, was an employee of a private company hired by the district transport office for making driving licences. The duo had been missing since October 4 when they had left home saying they were going to Amritsar.

Later, on October 6, Sahil jumped off the third floor of MBD Neopolis Mall at Ferozepur Road. However, he survived and has been undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

A day later, he told his parents that Lalit had died, even as the latter’s parents filed a missing complaint with the Kochar Market police post.

On Saturday, the police informed Lalit’s family about recovery of a body from Sidhwan Canal. The family reached the spot and identified the body as that of Lalit. His father Deepak Kumar, a peon at the district transport office, alleged that his son was murdered, as he was an adept swimmer, and could not have drowned. The victim’s parents claimed that there were some injury marks on his body that had turned blue.
